Candelaria Canopy is a visionary architectural reinterpretation of coastal public space, located on the Tenerife waterfront within the path of the prevailing Alisios winds. Operating under the premise that architecture should engage with environmental forces rather than shield against them, the project integrates urban furniture with a dynamic and porous textile morphology. Our design employs a translucent, triangulated skin that functions as a natural cooling device, creating a fluid transition between the built environment and the vastness of the Atlantic horizon.
The visitor experience is defined by a system of tensioned membranes that filter solar radiation while orchestrating air flow through the creation of controlled vortices. This aerodynamic strategy avoids the thermal and visual isolation of conventional enclosures, fostering cool microclimates that allow users to "experience the breeze" while maintaining optimal comfort. Candelaria Canopy exemplifies our commitment to parametric design that utilizes natural forces as primary design tools, ensuring a legacy of resilient habitability and contemporary aesthetics for the local community.
