The Berkovetch Project is a bold architectural transformation of a prominent cultural center, focusing on the revitalization of an existing complex housing an auditorium, library, and multifunctional spaces. Operating as a cohesive urban hub, the design reimagines the site by expanding public areas and integrating natural elements. By strategically connecting nearby university schools and residential sectors, the project creates a vibrant destination that encourages community interaction and seamless pedestrian flow across the newly renovated plaza, ensuring a fluid transition between the built environment and the city’s social fabric.
The intervention utilizes a sophisticated material palette of red concrete, warm wood, and mirrored metal panels. A signature feature is the reflective ceiling canopy over the main plaza, designed to highlight user movement and create a dynamic visual dialogue between the structure and its visitors. The integration of a "water mirror" and vaulted glass transitions ensures fluid circulation while maximizing natural light. This technical approach transforms the traditional structure into a modern facility that balances solid materiality with light-filled, open volumes, fostering engagement in a contemporary setting for future generations.
